The Fading Village: An Archive of Exile and Errantry

My personal research is focused on the slow, piecemeal process of inheriting the stories of my Syrian-Armenian ancestry. By retelling the stories passed down to me, I have found a uniquely errant form of historical research: a non-methodical methodology for meandering through remembered histories that are then translated for the present. I also animate these writings with an assemblage of ephemera, archival artifacts, and diasporic objects. This connects distant memories to the material world through the things I find, illustrate, and document along the way.
